OT for Intellectual and Learning Disabilities
Helping kids develop essential skills, improve independence, and succeed in daily activities.
Child Occupational Therapist
Empowering Abilities, Unlocking Potential.
Occupational therapy provides essential support for children with intellectual and learning disabilities, helping them develop skills to thrive daily. At Lifetime Therapy in Ormeau, our compassionate and experienced therapists create personalized, engaging plans to address each child’s unique needs and challenges.
For children with intellectual and learning disabilities, OT focuses on building foundational skills like fine and gross motor coordination, sensory processing, and problem-solving abilities. By enhancing these areas, therapy enables children to perform everyday tasks such as dressing, eating, and writing more independently and confidently. Therapists also work on cognitive and social skills, helping children improve focus, memory, and peer interactions.
In addition to skill development, occupational therapy promotes self-esteem and emotional well-being by providing children with tools to overcome barriers and succeed in school, home, and play settings. Through collaboration with families and educators, our therapists ensure that progress continues outside of sessions, creating a supportive environment for growth.
